NEET PG 2026: Supreme Court Seeks NBE Explanation Over Restricted Disclosure of Question Paper

The Supreme Court has directed the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to file written submissions explaining why NEET PG question papers should not be disclosed along with answer keys after the examination. A bench comprising Justices P S Narasimha and Alok Aradhe issued the direction on November 2 while hearing a petition filed by the Democratic Medical Association seeking greater transparency in the examination process. The petitioners argued that candidates should have access to their question papers, responses and corresponding answer keys to verify their performance.

According to reports, NBEMS defended its policy, stating that the NEET PG question bank is limited and constitutes a national asset requiring protection. It maintained that candidates are provided question IDs, response status and correct answers, but not the actual questions. Questioning the implications for transparency, the Supreme Court asked NBEMS to explain why NEET PG should be treated differently from examinations that disclose their question papers, according to a Live Law report.
