About GOVERNMENT DENTAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL
Government Dental College and Hospital, Vijayawada was established in the year 1992-93. It is the first established teaching dental institution in the present state of Andhra Pradesh and the only government dental college in the coastal Andhra region. Reckoned as one of the most acclaimed dental institutions in the state, GDC&H, Vijayawada is affiliated to Dr. Y.S.R. University of Health Sciences and is recognized by the Dental Council of India and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The institution is identified as one of the centers of excellence for oral health and oral cancer care by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2023. The college has strategic tie up with Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada for training of the students in medical disciplines. The vision of the institution is to facilitate the realization of the broader goal of universal optimum oral health care by preparing dental graduates who are skillful, knowledgeable, and empathetic. GDC&H, Vijayawada offers quality oral health services for patients seeking care at the institution besides conducting regular outreach activities for oral health promotion. The college has dedicated full time teaching faculty preparing the students for their clinical and research careers in a holistic manner.

Government Dental College & Hospital, Vijayawada is one of the premier dental institutions in the state offering BDS and MDS admissions in eight specialties. I am glad to note that the institution has recently been recognised by the Goverment of Andhra Pradesh as one of the centres of excellence for oral health and oral cancer care. Providing holistic training for our students and holistic care for our patients is our motto and it is with these core values that we established the learning and working cultures in the institution. I am also pleased to share that the institution is proactive in conducting community outreach programs in our mobile oral health facility and in organizing cancer screening campaigns with an autofluorescence based screening equipment VELscope. I look forward to continuing this good work and contributing towards achieving universal oral health care with no oral health disparities
