About MAULANA AZAD INSTITUTE OF DENTAL SCIENCES

Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences is named after one of the intellectual giants of the Indian history, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of independent India. The Maulana Azad Medical College and Associated Hospitals have been a part of many significant events throughout history. The foundation of Irwin Hospital was laid by Baron Irwin of Kirby Undertale, British Viceroy and governor general of India on 10th January, 1930. The hospital started functioning a few years later. The present O.P.D. block was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Minister of Health D.P. Karmarkaran on 5th April 1961. The hospital was renamed Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital on 6th December, 1997.

It gives me immense honor and privilege in welcoming you all as the Director - Principal of Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences located in the “Heart of Central Delhi”,(an eminent “Centre of Dental Excellence). The Institute is affiliated to the University of Delhi and Government of NCT of Delhi. Since its inception in the Year 1983, our Institute has completed its 40 years of imparting Dental Science education and skills to the post graduate and undergraduate students. Over the years, the institute has grown tremendously and achieved a remarkable reputation of being the best Dental College in India. The Institute runs an undergraduate program (BDS) with 50 students and Post-graduate courses in all Dental Specialties and is recognized by the Dental Council of India . The Dental hospital has been providing state-of-the-art dental healthcare facilities to the patients and aims towards accessible and affordable dental care solutions for the society. Our aim is to deliver best quality dental education aimed at the holistic development of the students, both in patient care services and technological advancement. Our Institute focuses not only in imparting education and knowledge in the field of Dentistry, but also to imbibe in our students – spirits of empathy, wisdom, compassion and running back to the society. The hospital is accredited under National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) since 2011 and has successfully completed its 4^th cycle of accreditation.

We feel blessed and proud for our world class infrastructure with all state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, classrooms, tutorial facilities, Pre-Clinical and Clinical Skill Labs creating a perfect environment for knowledge and skills development.
